The Boston Celtics have won a total of 17 NBA Titles, tying them with the Lakers for the most in league history. The Celtics won their first NBA championship in 1957, led by Russell point guard Bob Cousy and 195657 Rookie of the Year Tom Heinsohn. The Celtics have appeared in the NBA Finals 22 times, winning 17 championships. Most of Boston's postseason success has come in the 1950s and 1960s, when they won 11 championships in 13 years. The Celtics have also won championships in 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, and 2008.
